Beach Trip Packing Guide

What to pack for a beach day

Heading to the Gulf Coast? The water is warm, the sun is stronger than it looks, and downtown St. Pete is a short hop from the sand. Here is what a local would pack, and what you can grab from us if you forgot it.

The essentials

  • Two swimsuits, so one can dry while you wear the other
  • A cover-up or coastal dress for lunch and the walk back
  • A sun shirt or rash guard for long days in the water
  • A wide-brim hat and polarized sunglasses
  • Reef-safe sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher (we stock Sun Bum)
  • Sandals you can walk in and get wet
  • A quick-dry beach towel and a roomy tote
  • A refillable water bottle

For a boat or sandbar day

  • Sun shirt
  • Hat with a chin strap
  • Polarized sunglasses
  • Extra sunscreen and an SPF lip balm
